Position: Athletic Trainer Fellowship

Position Type: Part-time

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform as a Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the health care of athletes including but not limited to first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, assisting in rehabilitation and prevention programs, pre- and post-training treatments, and taping athletes.
  2. Maintain a complete and up to date roster of player health and participation records in the league provided electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  3. Assist in providing athletic training coverage of New England Revolution, New England Revolution II, and New England Revolution Academy practices/games.
  4. Maintain medical supplies inventory
  5. Assist in packing medical bags for team away trips
  6. Keep the athletic training room clean, organized, and safe.
  7. Comply with all New England Revolution and league medical policies and protocols including OSHA’s standards with regards to blood borne pathogens.
  8. Special projects and assignments as business dictates

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Athletic Training curriculum from a CAATE accredited school
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills including the ability to multi-task
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Organized and highly attentive to detail
  • Must be punctual and accountable every day
  • Must be trustworthy, have a positive attitude, and demonstrate an ability to work well in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn from a wide variety of medical professionals
  • Demonstrate ability to relate effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Proficiency in Spanish and coverage of soccer is preferred
  • Ability to work a varying schedule which may include nights, weekends, and Holidays to support the club.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to handle or feel.
  • The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
  • Will work in all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • In good standing with BOC and a member of the NATA.
  • Massachusetts ATC State License or eligible for license required.
  • Current professional CPR/AED certification.
  • Possess personal professional liability insurance.
  • Valid driver’s license / reliable transportation required

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Injury Prevention and Prevention strategies to mitigate risks and maintain player health.
  • Competence in Athletic Training practices, including evaluating and treating injuries in a high-performance environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) certification or other relevant credentials are required.
  • Experience working with elite athletes or professional sports teams is highly desirable.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, demanding environment and working on-site during training and matches.
