GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
The Boise Professional Soccer Club Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) will be working in a professional and academy sports environment supporting athletes in practices, competition, and return to sport. Working closely with coaches, team management and team sports medicine physicians. This position will work with the Outreach Athletic Trainer Supervisor with the day- to- day sports medicine operations for the first team and the academy. The AT will provide oversight for the treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and conditioning of athletic players. As a year-round employee, the AT will attend all training sessions, scrimmages, and games.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in athletic training. Master’s degree preferred
- Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification
- Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the state they work (Idaho or Oregon).
- Must have a minimum of three years of full-time experience (within the past 5 years) in elite soccer. This experience should include serving as a head or assistant athletic trainer at the professional, major junior, or college/university level.
- At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Assist in managing the healthcare of Boise Pro Soccer team players including first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, training and game day hydration, application of appropriate modalities, development of rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals
- Must be available for exclusive work with the Saint Alphonsus Sports Medicine and travel with the team as needed.
- Keeps treatment room and clinic area safe, clean, and organized
- Electronically documents accurate first report of injury, physician diagnosis, player assessments, player treatments, and return to play dates
- Initiates insurance/worker's compensation claims for players and compiles reports as required by the league
- Organizes physical examinations as required by league regulations
- Complies with all league medical policies
- Maintains a complete and up to date academy roster of player health and participation records in the team provided electronic medical record system (EMR)
- Orders and maintains inventory supplies and clinical equipment
- Assists with practical implementation of appropriate nutrition and hydration strategies for players
- Provides coverage of all home games, scrimmages, and training sessions
- Assists with the Youth Affiliate education program
