Bruce Morgan
Head Athletic Trainer
San Jose Earthquakes
The 2008 season marks Bruce’s 13th as a head athletic trainer in Major League Soccer. An original team staff member of the San Jose Clash he switched colors if not teams when the Clash became the Earthquakes in 2000. Six years and two championships later Bruce traveled with the team to Texas when it was relocated to Houston and became the Dynamo. Having earned two additional championships with the Dynamo, he returns to his native California to once again direct the day to day healthcare of the Earthquakes.
In addition to his four championship rings the Sacramento State (B.S.) and University of Arizona (M.S.) graduate has on three occasions been named Athletic Trainer of the Year.
Since the league’s inception Bruce has served on the Medical Advisory Board and in that capacity helped draft the policies and procedures manual which guides the delivery of medical services to the league’s players.
The author or co-author of several articles exploring topics in sports medicine Bruce most proudly points to his still uninterrupted stretch of having worked all of his team’s games and practices.
